The family of the late Joanna Demafelis Refused The "Peace Money"




The family of the late Joanna Demafelis, 29, a Filipino migrant worker who was killed by her employer in Kuwait, asked for legal justice and refused the peace money or also called the successor blood of the perpetrator.

"We do not need that. We want justice especially for our parents, "said Jojet Demafelis, Joanna's eldest brother, in Iloilo City, Philippines

According to Jojet, the family feels somewhat calm after the two perpetrators are caught. They are waiting for the two to be extradited to Kuwait.

As reported by Al Jazeera media, a criminal tribunal in Kuwait decided hanging for both Joanna's employer, who was killed Joanna and hide her body in a refrigerator in an unused apartment.

Kuwaiti law enforcement pursues both employers who fled to Syria. Both employers are Nader Essam Assaf and his wife Mona Hassoun. After being pursued by Interpol, Assaf, who is a Lebanese national, was caught in Syria and handed over to Lebanon. While Mona is still detained in Damascus. Both defendants could still appeal the death penalty they received.

The death of Defamelis shook the Philippines. President Rodrigo Duterte ordered the suspension of worker shipments to Kuwait thereby triggering diplomatic tensions.

Duterte is determined to ask for justice for Filipino workers who are tortured by their employers. He then sent an airplane to Kuwait to bring all the workers who wanted to go home. The Filipino ambassador to Kuwait, Renato Villa, said there were 6000 Filipino worker complaints in 2017 alone.

Youtube Shooter Is Known To Be Animal Rights Activist

San Bruno Police, United States (US) announced the identity of the perpetrators of attacks at the headquarters of YouTube on Tuesday (3/4/2018). Proclaimed by Sky News on Wednesday (4/4/2018), the shooter was identified as Nasim Aghdam, and aged 39 years. She has her own YouTube channel, and is known to be an athlete, artist and animal rights activist.
